Medberg is a projector system which displays media content and performance data in a fresh and exiting way. Residing in the entrance of Kellogg’s Head Office, its target audience is Kellogg’s employees and visitors to the company.

Originally launched in 2005 as an interactive touch screen, the system became reliant on constant laborious updates. No new content = no users!

So in 2008 I was challenged with the redesign of the new system in a way that engaged people. I based this around three key decisions:

1) Include only content that is relevant and people want to see. This was shortlisted to TVCs, Promotions, Staff profiles and top line performance. A live RSS feed from the BBC was also included which would provide new content every 2 hours.

2) Stick it in front of people and take away the interactive elements, which no one used. Whereas before the system was interactive which no one used, we decided to adopt more of a “Sky News” approach so that people could just watch as they walk by.

3) Make the content as easy to update as possible. The Max-TM CMS, Maximiser was used to administer content as painlessly as possible by Kellogg’s.

After initial design options were presented to Kellogg’s they arrived at a Sky News style design, giving the appearance and feel of up to the minute news.

The system was produced in Flash with myself creating the base template files ready for advanced Actionscript by the developers, leaving me to manage the project to completion.
